Inspired to Spread Good Will and Peace
Brian Radziwill – Outreach Associate
I studied at DeSales University where I had great friendships with many of the Oblate priests and grew to appreciate the spirituality of St. Francis DeSales. During my time at DeSales, I was a part of several international service trips to Peru which opened my eyes to the global picture. With this seed having been planted, I decided to explore a little more after my university studies. I spent a year in Ghana, where I completed a master’s degree in International Affairs at the University of Ghana and served as a Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholar. While in Ghana, I also taught English to young children and raised funds to help bring much needed school supplies to primary schools throughout the country. The children were curious and eager to learn, and they deserved the basic resources to make their education possible. I also spent ten months as a volunteer with the Salesians of Don Bosco in Villa Regina, Argentina, working with at-risk youth and orphaned children. I have been blessed to travel extensively and experience many different cultures. The people I have met and friends I have made in those adventures are my inspiration for wishing to work for an organization that spreads goodwill and peace around the world.
Prior to joining the Center for Advocacy & Outreach, I was working for the Latin American Community Center, a social service organization serving the Latino community in Wilmington, Delaware. This experience made me more aware of the issues facing the immigrant population and motivated me to become a part of the solution. I am excited to join the Columban team, and in the coming months I look forward to meeting all of you who work for and support the work of the Columban mission.
