Preparing for the summer internship with the CCAO is exciting, but at the same time, I can’t help but feel nervous or anxious for the summer filled with activities to begin. I’m so excited to be working with the CCAO, especially with the issue of Environmental Justice which is my assignment for the summer. I have to admit that my experience working for environmental justice is small, but I am excited to learn more about the issue.
It’s easy to see that environmental justice pertains to the Catholic Social Teaching of caring for God’s creation. God has put us on this planet and so we must be stewards of and protect the wonderful creation that God made.
We are currently facing a time when the wonderful planet that we live on is in need of our help. Naturally, when we see someone who is in need, we help him or her. Similarly, we are called to help our planet. Currently, our natural resources are being rapidly depleted, so the need to find alternative forms of energy is greatly needed. This is a rapidly growing issue that needs to be researched greatly.
I could not be happier or more excited about being assigned this issue for the summer. Until my CCAO internship begins, I patiently wait for the summer of Environmental Justice.
