Continued territorial disputes and increased militarization throughout the Asia-Pacific nations have grabbed my attention as I reach a halfway point in my time with the CCAO. Columbans work in Korea and the Philippines, promoting peace and protection of people. However, the well-being and environment of those they serve are threatened by potential violence as a result of territorial disputes in the East China Sea.
Faith holds us accountable for protecting the vulnerable and living in solidarity with one another. From a global perspective, a failure in international trust contributes greatly to increased militarization
We are thankful to have Columbans working in South Korea and the Philippines to advocate for and give hope to those caught in gray areas of international affairs. At the CCAO, we too, stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in the Asia Pacific.
