Spend a semester learning about the political process through the lens of your faith in our Washington, D. C., mission center and in our region headquarters near Omaha, Nebraska.

Typical projects for advocacy interns include (Omaha and D.C.):

- Monitoring assigned issues, countries and pertinent legislation through list serves, research, as well as by attending working group meetings and Congressional hearings, briefings and seminars.
- Meeting with Congressional staffers to present Columban advocacy priorities
- Writing letters to decision makers concerning Columban priorities
- Developing material for newsletters, action alerts and other publications
Advocacy Priorities include:
- Migration: global economic & climate migrants, human trafficking, US immigration
- Environmental Justice: climate change, water rights, extractive industries
- Economic Justice: international trade agreements, debt cancellation
- Peace & Conflict Resolution: indigenous rights, fostering peace
Service Opportunities Include:
- Part-time internships during the Fall and Spring semesters
- Full-time internships during the summer

Web / Media Opportunities Include (Omaha, Nebraska):

- Create engaging web pages (or parts of pages) that offer a variety of content (photos or video);
- Develop mobile website on WordPress platform using existing content;
- Offer suggestions on how to improve efficiency of the website (download speed) and, if directed, implement those suggestions;
- This may include a partial rebuild of the website in a test environment; when finished, this could be launched to the public (Existing layout and color scheme may remain the same)
- Improve the look of videos (including download time) and Photo Galleries;
- Improve the Search Engine Optimization of the website;
- Help develop key new sections on the website.
