Lomas De Poleo

| June 16, 2010 Print

Lomas del Poleo is the location of a land dispute between residents in a colonia called Anapra on the outskirts of Juarez, Mexico, and wealthy businessmen who claim to own the land on which the entire town exists.

These businessmen have erected a barbed-wire and cement fence around the homes and have stationed armed guards in watchtowers to prevent anyone but the current residents from coming in.

Columbans have been active in supporting the residents’ struggle to maintain their land rights.
