In 1997, the Columbans made the decision to create a Spanish-language edition of their magazine Columban Mission. This was a way to better convey the Columban message to the growing Hispanic community in the United States, as well as spreading news about the Columban activities in Latin America.
Production began on the first issue of the new Misión Columbana, and the first issue appeared early 1998. It contained articles about the history of the Columban Fathers, Columban activities in Japan, the Philippines, and elsewhere.
Misión Columbana has flourished into a developed, widely circulated publication that reaches Spanish-speaking communities all over the world.
