Faithful Friend

Man and dog by a lake

By Fr. Patrick Raleigh

An old man and his faithful friend,
Their steps may falter, but they amble along,
Each step, a dance with the years gone by,
Underneath the open, endless sky,
In the quiet of twilight beneath the setting sun.

Man hugging dogIn the wrinkles etched on the man's kind face,
The dog finds comfort, in a familiar place.
A world of words in the tilt of a head,
with eyes that speak of unwavering trust,
In the gentle moments, by the fireside's gleam,
A dog's love is a treasure, a gift from above,
A testament to the power of unconditional love.

Through the years, as time marches on,
The bond grows deeper, a love ever strong,
In the heart of a dog, eternally cast,
A love for his master, unwavering, steadfast.
He finds his purpose in the one he loves.

A wagging tail, a paw's gentle touch,
In the world of a dog, love means so much.
In the heart of a dog, a love that won't sever,
A tribute to love's enduring endeavor.
