Pentecost reminds us that the mission of the Church is impossible without the Holy Spirit. When the disciples gathered in fear, the Spirit descended like fire, transforming them into bold witnesses. “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses” (Acts 1:8).
In May, as we remember Pentecost, we are reminded that mission is not accomplished by human strength or strategy but by divine empowerment. The Spirit gives courage to speak truth, wisdom to act in love, and unity that transcends culture and language.
Christian mission thrives when we allow the Spirit to guide us beyond comfort zones. The Spirit compels us to cross boundaries, to listen deeply, and to serve humbly. As we pray this month, let us ask God to rekindle that Pentecost fire in our hearts — a fire that drives us to share the gospel with joy and compassion.
