St. Patrick (c. 385–461) was taken captive by Irish raiders as a teenager and enslaved far from home. Years later, after escaping, he felt a divine call to return to Ireland — not for revenge, but to bring the Gospel to the very people who had enslaved him.
Through faith and perseverance, Patrick became a missionary bishop, converting an entire nation to Christianity. Legends of him using the shamrock to explain the Trinity remind us of those simple truths, shared with passion, can transform hearts.
March is a month of renewal, and St. Patrick reminds us that our mission may lead us back into uncomfortable places — not to relive pain, but to redeem it. His life is a model of missionary courage and forgiveness in action.
