Heavenly Father, you sent prophets
to prepare Your people for the Messiah's coming.
Open our ears to hear Your word
and our hearts to receive it with humility.
Help us recognize that we, too,
need preparation and conversion.
Soften the hardened places within us where pride
and self-sufficiency have taken root.
Make us like good soil, ready to receive the seed of your word,
that it may take root deeply and bear abundant fruit
in our lives and in service to others.
