O God, You gladden us with the annual feast
of Blessed Alexius, Your Confessor;
mercifully grant, that we may imitate his example,
whose heavenly birthday we celebrate.
Father, like St. Alexius, take from my heart,
every kind, form and degree of pride.
Empty me of self, and awaken in me
the humility which can make me capable
of Your revealing light.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with You
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever.
