Weekly Prayer Archive

Dear Lord Jesus Christ,
You wanted all who are weary
To come to You for support.
Lord, I am worn out
By my inability to find work.

Guide my steps to a righteous path;
Give me the patience
To find opportunities with a future.
Calm my worries and fears
As my financial responsibilities mount.
Strengthen my resolve;
Embolden my heart to open doors;
Open my eyes to see life beyond rejections.
Help me believe in me.

Let me realize other ways
To bring about Your kingdom on earth.
Let me grow as a person
That I may be worthy
For Your greater glory.
In the name of the Father.

As the dawn breaks, Lord,
have mercy on me.
Strip away the sins that weaken me.
Mend my faults.
Cleanse my imperfection.

When the Holy Spirit speaks,
help me to grasp the meaning of the words,
and treasure them!

I place myself at your service
the whole day log.
Guard me from injuries of body and mind.
Let the rising of the sun find me blessing your name
and its setting proclaiming your praise.

Amen.

– By a Columban Missionary

God Our Heavenly Father
You created the world to serve humanity's needs
and to lead them to You.
By our own fault
we have lost the beautiful relationship
which we once had with all Your creation.
Help us to see that by restoring our relationship with You
we will also restore it with all Your creation.
Give us the grace to see all animals as gifts from You
and to treat them with respect
for they are Your creation.
May the order You originally established
be once again restored to the whole world
through the intercession of the Glorious Virgin Mary,
the prayers of St. Francis
and the merits of Your Son,
Our Lord Jesus Christ
Who lives and reigns with You now and forever.

Amen.

Father of Heaven and earth,
hear my prayer and show me the way to peace.
Guide each effort of my life
so that my faults and my sins
may not keep me from the peace You promised.
May the new life of grace You give me
through the Eucharist and prayer
make my love for You grow
and keep me in the joy of Your Kingdom.

Heavenly Father,

We give you thanks for the privilege of sharing
the joy of the Gospel in many cultures.

Keep us faithful in responding to your call to communion
with your creation, with the poor
and with those who are spiritually alienated.

Lord Jesus,
Grant us the wisdom to know the path we should take,
as we interpret the charism of our founders
and pass it on to future generations.

Holy Spirit,
Help us to be strong and courageous
in proclaiming the transforming and liberating power
of the Kingdom of God, knowing that you
are with us wherever we go.

St. Columban, pray for us.

Amen.

We long for You, Oh Spirit of Light,
we long to know God,
we want to be one with Him,
our Divine God.
We want to be one with the Father,
know Him as a Person most intimately.
We want to know the beloved One,
the Sacred Heart of Jesus,
and live and dwell in Him at all times,
every moment of our lives.
We want to be one with You,
Oh Spirit of Light,
that You move in our every breath.

Amen.

Pour forth, we beg You, O Lord,
Your Grace into our hearts;
that as we have known the incarnation of Christ,
your Son by the message of an angel,
so by His passion and cross
we may be brought to the glory of His Resurrection.
Through the same Christ, our Lord.

Amen.

Lord,Give me strength and wisdom
to live this day as I should.

Give me strength to overcome every temptation which may come to me,
to do well every task which is assigned to me,
to shoulder every responsibility which is laid upon my shoulders.

Give me wisdom to know when to speak and when to keep silent,
to know when to act and when to refrain from action,
to know when to speak my mind and when to hold my peace.

So bring me to the end of this day
in goodness, in happiness and in peace.

Amen.

Father, you prepared the Virgin Mary
to be the worthy mother of Your Son.
You let her share beforehand
in the salvation Christ would bring by His death,
and kept her sinless
from the first moment of her conception.
Help us by her prayers
to live in Your presence without sin.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ,
Your Son, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God,
for ever and ever.

Amen.

Sacred Heart of Jesus
today I wish to live in You,
in Your grace,
in which I desire at all costs to persevere.
Keep me from sin
and strengthen my will by helping me to keep watch over my senses,
my imagination, and my heart.
Help me to correct my faults which are the source of sin.
I beg You to do this,
O Jesus, through Mary,
Your Immaculate Mother.

Father all-powerful,
Your gifts of love are countless
and Your goodness infinite.
On Thanksgiving Day we come before You
with gratitude for Your kindness:
open our hearts to concern for our fellow men and women,
so that we may share Your gifts in loving service.

We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.

Amen.

Lord Jesus, Carpenter and King,
supreme Sovereign of all men,
look with tender mercy upon Your children
who bear the indignities of injustice everywhere.
Raise up leaders in every land
dedicated to Your standards of order, equality and justice.

Grant us, Lord Jesus,
the grace to be worthy members of Your Mystical Body,
laboring unceasingly to fulfill our vocation
in the social apostolate of Your Church.

Sharpen our intellects to pierce the pettiness of prejudice;
to perceive the beauty of true human brotherhood.
Guide our minds to a meaningful understanding of the problems of the poor,
of the oppressed, of the unemployed,
of all in need of assistance anywhere.

Guide our hearts against the subtle lure of earthly things
and undue regard for those who possess them.
May we hunger and thirst after justice always.

Amen.

St. Gerard, who, like the Savior,
loved children so tenderly
and by your prayers freed many from disease and even death,
listen to us who are pleading for our sick child.
We thank God for the great gift of our son/daughter
and ask Him to restore our child to health
if such be His holy will.
This favour, we beg of you
through your love for all children and mothers.

Amen.

My God,
bestow Your blessings and Your mercies
on all persons
and on those souls in Purgatory
for whom I am in charity, gratitude, or friendship bound
and have the desire to pray.
