God of resilience, when life knocks us down,
give us the strength to rise again.
Help us develop the endurance
to overcome obstacles and emerge
stronger in faith.
Remind us that with You,
all things are possible.

Amen.

— By a Columban Missionary

Dear Jesus,
Thank You for the gift of people who, by their
kindness, self-giving, humor, and truth-telling,
have shown the way to truly live.
Their love gave meaning and grace.
May I follow their example.

Amen.

— By Columban Fr. John Comiskey

Dear Jesus,
Some days seem kind of blah,
little accomplished, even the usual things.
Yet they were gifts, maybe ill-used
but nevertheless gifts.
Thank You for the opportunity.
Maybe tomorrow will be better.
What is most important is Your
faithful presence even in the humdrum.

Amen.

Dear Jesus,
Help me to become a more welcoming person.
At times, distractions, worries and fears get in the way
of appreciating others with their own joys and needs.
I may see them as an interruption or problem rather than as a person.
When I truly welcome them and give them my time, attention
and care, our relationship can blossom.
Guide me in Your way.

Amen.

By Columban Fr. John Comiskey

Dear Jesus,
I like to look upon faith in terms of our relationship.
While a clear understanding of doctrine and practice
is important; our relationship touches my heart
and gives a deeper meaning.
Help me grow in appreciation of Your love
and of my love for You and all being.

Amen.

By Columban Fr. John Comiskey

Dear Jesus,
I have distractions in prayer- random thoughts
or feelings that interrupt our conversations.
Sometimes, they may be worries or desires
that could be brought to prayer.
Another kind of distraction is one that influences
my daily activity, a distraction that takes me away
from choosing something better than following You.
It may be good in itself, but I could be doing something
more loving, beneficial, generous, kind or challenging.
Guide me in Your way.

Amen.

By Columban Fr. John Comiskey

Dear Jesus,
You have given us the ability to see and hear.
Help us to be attentive to Your presence in the events of life.
May we appreciate the kindness of others and be kind in turn.
May obstacles not get in the way of caring.
May the healing You bring inspire us to reflect Your love.

Amen.

By Columban Father John Comiskey

Dear Jesus,

Help me in facing physical weakness.
May I do what I can to grow stronger
and may I accept the limitations that remain
due to age or illness.
Your gift of body and spirit is aimed at giving
loving service to God, to others and to self.

Amen.

— By Columban Fr. John Comiskey

Dear Jesus,
Often the little things we do become means of grace;
a kind word, helping in a simple task, spending time with a coworker,
these not only may benefit others but also heal and better ourselves.
Help me to look out for opportunities of giving and then to act on them.

Amen.

— By Columban Fr. John Comiskey

Dear Jesus,

So many times our lives are buoyed up by others,
a caring doctor, a wise coworker, a relative who reaches out,
a friend who keeps in contact.
Thank you for those living gifts that support and enrich.

Amen.

Dear Jesus,
As we begin the Season of Lent,
We can look forward to revitalizing
our faith life and onto Easter joy.
These days may best be spent
preparing ourselves for the coming seasons.
Let us ask ourselves: What do I need to change
to more fully appreciate God’s love for me?
How may I reflect that love in relationships
with family, friends and others?
And, How may I show my gratitude
for the gift of all creation?

Amen.

— By Columban Fr. John Comiskey

Dear Jesus,
When I look at my life,
I come to appreciate that I am incomplete.
I see faults, failings, limitations and mistakes.
Growth and maturity have occurred
but are not yet fully realized.
Life is a process.
This journey takes on meaning
in St Augustine’s “… our hearts are restless
until they rest in Thee.”

Amen.

— By Columban Fr. John Comiskey

Dear Jesus,
Much of the time we are not aware
of the burdens that people bear in their lives.
Give us a listening ear and an understanding heart.
May we approach others with kindness and compassion.

 Amen.

— By Columban Fr. John Comiskey

Dear Jesus,
I am grateful for all the people
who are willing to help others.
Sometimes I need to listen to others advice
but I’m slow to follow.
Help me to be more attentive.

Amen.
